How do you know it's a phishing scam?

How do 8.3 million Americans fall victim to identity theft each year?  Emails like this one that arrived in my inbox this weekend.  Three things gave this one away, and hopefully after reading this you’ll be able to spot clues like this in the future.

2.) Paypal knows my name, and uses it in email correspondence.

3.) Look closely.  The link you’re about to click on lives at

Ultimately, if you’d like to make sure there’s not a problem with your paypal account, type w-w-w-dot-p-a-y-p-a-l-dot-c-o-m into your browser and log directly into your account.  If there’s a problem, you’ll see it there!
